Economy minister Axel Kicillof has defended the economic policies of his department and the administration of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, affirming that the government would continue to promote social inclusion and state intervention in the area.
«If social inclusion is not covered, there is no economic activity or stability,» the politician said during a speech at the Argentine Construction Chamber’s 62nd annual convention.
Kicillof underlined that public policy would remain unchanged «even though it is heterodox and the markets do not like it.»
«Even though those policies force banks to lend to the productive sector and say that it creates uncertainly, they allow for stability in terms of creating and sustaining employment, even at a time of massive international upheaval.»
During his address, the minister reiterated that government investment in the economy would not come to a halt, asserting that it was the best way to generate a better future for citizens.
«In order to keep growing the state has to keep investing in infrastructure, transport, ports and public works, because there is a long way to go for us to pay off the social debt to those who have been unemployed, homeless and without a future,» Kicillof said.
