Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman participated in a United Nations Security Council meeting, where he insisted on Argentina’s call to other states to abstain from sending guns to conflict zones.
“That just contributes to increment the intensity of the conflict and puts civilians in danger,” Timerman, who was accompanied by Marita Perceval, Argentina permanent representative in the UIN, said.
The debate centered on international cooperation to fight terrorism, including threats like Al-Qaida an Islamic State.
As a conclusion to the meeting, the council reaffirmed previous resolutions on the matter, and identified practical measures to improve information exchange between states to fight terrorism.
