The health condition of popular tango singer-songwriter Cacho Castaña was slightly improved today, his personal physician Alfredo Cahe said. He remains hospitalised in Buenos Aires City’s Sanatorio Los Arcos under treatment for a serious respiratory ailment.
After undergoing a tracheotomy surgery on Monday, the singer showed signs of “cardiac and respiratory stability,” Cahe explained.
“Cacho is fighting back and they are now removing the sedatives,” the physician added.
The 72-year-old popular idol was rushed to the Sanatorio Los Arcos on October 15, a day before surgery for a fractured hip domestic accident. Castaña’s evolution suffered complications due to a respiratory infection, for which he was being treated with antibiotics, medical sources reported. Before hip surgery, Castaña was still recovering from a spinal cord operation.
