Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich has announced the Interior Security Council will meet before December, in order to evaluate gendarmerie reinforcements in certain provinces, and prevent possible violent episodes.
The meeting will be held on November 21, Capitanich stated during a visit to Rosario, where he inaugurated a Molecular Biophysics lab.
Asked about a possible violent outbreak in December, Capitanich said between two and three thousand gendarmes can be sent to Santa Fe and Rosario to aid local police.
“As it is known, security is a non-delegable duty, and the federal government cooperates with every province in the matter,” he said.
Last year, 30 people were detained and three were severely wounded amid a wave of looting in southern Rosario.
