The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that an empty raft found in seas off the Brazilian coast belongs to the Tunante II sailing vessel, which has been missing for 49 days along with a crew of four Argentine nationals.
Through a press release, the military body informed that a navy corvette has been sent to the area where the craft was discover in order to intensify the search for the lost crew.
The Brazilian Navy further detailed that the boat found in high seas was partially submerged and drifting in waters close to the Rio Grande coast.
The ship that went missing on August 27 carried four Argentine citizens, one of whom is 62-year-old cardiologist Alejandro Vernero. The search has been interrupted on several occasions, before authorities renewed efforts on October 9.
