Argentine tennis star Juan Martín Del Potro has confirmed that he will return to the ATP circuit in the new year, when he hopes to be completely recovered from a wrist operation that has kept him out of the game for almost all of 2014.
Del Potro, who has fallen to 29 in the world rankings, last played an official tournament in March. Indian Somdev Devvarman defeated the Tandil native in the first round in Dubai, after which he went under the knife for the problem in his left wrist.
«I am training well. The recovery from the wrist operation is slow to come back to a competitive international level that would let me take on the best players in the year’s last two tournaments,» Del Potro stated in a press release.
«I would rather be patient, prudent, and preparing ahead of next year (2015). I am no longer in pain, every day I am feeling better.»
