Cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich criticised economists who question the government’s economic policies. He acknowledged that Argentina is facing “problems caused by a transition stage” but stressed that there are no structural problems threatening the country’s economy.
The chief of ministers reiterated once again in his daily press briefing at government house that the country is going through a transition period in order to solve problems caused by energy imports needed for economic growth.
“Problems caused by the transition stage are not structural, they will be solved over time. Structural problems are solved,” he said and pointed out that there is no impediment preventing the country’s economy from growing.
Capitanich praised the government’s countercyclical policies and said that his “ears hurt” from listening to opposition economists criticism against fiscal policies. “Those who criticise do so either out of ignorance or because they seek to do us harm, because they never recognize (the government’s) achievements,” the kirchnerite official said.
