Lower House committee clears Budget for debate

The Budget and Finance Lower House committee has approved the 2015 Budget bill, which will now be discussed by lawmakers in Congress on October 8.

Although some opposition representatives questioned the bill, the ruling Victory Front party (FPV) had enough votes to give the project the green light.

The meeting was headed by Victory Front lawmaker Roberto Feletti, who last week, during budget discussions, assured the country’s growth could be «higher than expected» if an agreement with «vulture funds» over Argentina’s debt is met, and said the government has «enough dollars to function properly up to December 2015.»

Feletti revealed today two changes had been made to the bill: Aerolíneas Argentinas (AA) will have US$360 million for airplane equipment purchases, and the province of Formosa will be able to build an aqueduct.

The changes were again questioned by the Radical and PRO parties.
