Government launches Pro.Cre.Auto II plan

Industry Minister Débora Giorgi has assured the Pro.Cre.Auto program was a “success” and announced the launch of the second stage of the plan, which aims to “re-vitalize demand and reduce sector layoffs and suspensions.”
Giorgi explained the government-sponsored plan to boost 0km car sales includes 42 car models, instead of the 26 models included in Pro.Cre.Auto I.
The new plan will be effective till January 10, and will have price rises between 5 and 7.5 percent compared to the first stage, which ended last Wednesday.
Pro.Cre.Auto I sold 21,800 units and contributed to reduce worker suspensions from 13,874 to 7,600, Giorgi stated during the conference held today at the Economy Ministry.
Meanwhile, Domestic Trade Secretary Augusto Acosta said auto dealers that do not respect the prices set by the plan will be sanctioned.
Auto makers and dealers had argued the price of the models included should be higher, as auto part imports prices have raised.
