Former president Carlos Saúl Menem declared before Federal Judge Carlos Villafuerte Ruzo and ratified his earlier statement that his son, Carlos Menem Jr, was “murdered”. Menem was deposed at his office in the Senate today in the trial investigating the death of his son, who perished in a fatal helicopter crash in 1995.
The Senator was called by Judge Ruzo to expand on an earlier written testimony submitted on July 8, in which he claimed that his son’s death was an orchestrated assassination.
Menem also ratified what his ex wife Zulema Yoma has repeatedly stated, that there is probably a bullethole in their son’s head.
In a dramatical change of mind, with his written testimony –now ratified by his declaration- Menem began to confirm the assassination claims that Yoma has sustained in the past years.
“After doing some research and analyzing the facts and circomstances of the case I have reached the conclusion –although I initially did not- that the helicopter crash and consequent death of my son was a result of an attack,” he wrote.
The investigation of Carlos Menem Jr. death had been shut down and filed in October 1998 and was reopened in light of new evidence in 2010.
