‘Blue’ dollar jumps to 15.42 pesos, official rate down 1 cent to 8.44 pesos

The so-called «blue» dollar today added 27 cents and closed at 15.42 pesos, pushed by the stock exchange rate, after climbing 15 cents yesterday, following a week of sharp hikes boosted by speculation.
The stock exchange rate opened with a 20-cent hike, as investors sought to gain dollars by purchasing shares and short-term bonds, dragging the «blue» up. But then it closed at 14.49 pesos, three cents less than yesterday’s close rate, after government intervention.
However, the unofficial dollar rate was unaffected as it closed before the stock exchange dollar pullback.
Meanwhile, the blue-chip swap rate fell back to 14.49 pesos after skyrocketing to 14.53 pesos in yesterday’s trading.
The official US dollar dipped one cent to close at 8.44 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices, widening the gap with the «blue» to 82 percent.
