‘There are no specific threats against the Pope’

Ahead of Pope Francis trip to Albania this weekend, and as Italian news report Albanian authorities’ concern about Muslim militants returning from Iraq and Syria might pose a threat to the Pontiff, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi no extra security measures have been taken to protect the Pontiff.
“There are no specific threats or risks that would change the Pope’s behaviour or the way the trip is organized,» Lombardi said to reporters, although he admitted that there is general concern about the threat posed by Islamic State (IS).
The Vatican had already played down IS threats against the Argentine Pope reported by Italian media in August saying there was “nothing serious” about it.
