Del Potro out of Asian tour, needs ‘more time’ to recover from surgery

Argentine tennis player Juan Martín Del Potro has announced he will not participate in the ATP Asian tour as expected because he has not yet re-gained “competitive level” after the operation he underwent in his right wrist.
“I wanted to tell you that although my wrist is recovering as supposed to, I need a little more time to reach the competitive level necessary to play in the tour week after week,” Del Potro posted on several of his social media accounts.
He explained he tried to be ready for the Asian tour, in which he had good results previously, such as champion at Tokio and runner-up at the Shangai Masters 1000, but it “will not be possible”.
Del Potro said he is “working hard” to be able to re-appear in the European tour at the end of the year.
The Tandil native has fell one ATP ranking position and he is now 14th. This year, he only played four tournaments.
