The informal rate climbed 20 cents to 14.20 pesos today, following Friday’s quiet market amid heavy security forces’ presence in Buenos Aires City financial district aimed at affecting underground exchange houses’ operations.
Similarly to last month’s record hikes, the «blue» dollar surge is linked to climbs in parallel rates. The blue-chip swap rate jumped to 13.30 pesos today, while the stock exchange rate advanced to 13.27 pesos.
The official US dollar closed unchanged at 8.42 pesos in the beginning of the financial week. The Central Bank sold u$s 20 million on Friday to prevent the currency from advancing.
