Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich referred to the 4% increase in fuel prices by state-controlled energy firm YPF, the seventh hike this year. The official stated that the companies will most likely “maintain current prices during the course of the year.”
“This is a matter decided by the (energy) companies,” Capitanich said in his daily press briefing at government house. However, the official pointed out that “spokespeople from different firms have decided that there will be no further price increases in 2014.”
“There is a trend to maintain current prices during the course of the year,” the chief of ministers stressed.
Asked about the drop in automobiles licensings this year, Capitanich praised the government’s efforts to alleviate the crisis in the industry through the Procreauto credit programme, and reiterated President Kirchner’s remarks about car manufacturers “retaining stock and not delivering automobiles.”
