Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli underwent surgery on his right arm at the Fleni Clinic today, following pains in the limb which was amputated in 1989. The official is recovering and is in good condition following the procedure.
Earlier today, the presidential front-runner led a political rally from the Government House in La Plata province, where he signed an act instructing the digitalization of birth and adoption certificates issued during the last dictatorship (1976-1983).
From there, he went straight into medical care, but before leaving he detailed:
“I am suffering from pains in my arm and they make me feel bad, but I did not want to postpone this event because for me there are things in life which strengthen us emotionally, combined with a will to keep on going forward,” the governor said.
Estela de Carlotto, leader of Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo human rights organization, sent Scioli a message of support during the official act.
“As I know, you are to undergo physical treatment and the grandmothers send you our blessings.”
Scioli is supposed to full recover and return to duties on Wednesday, while the governance remains under command of Gabriel Mariotto, Buenos Aires Deputy Governor.
