‘Blue’ dollar climbs five cents to 14.25 pesos

The informal rate climbed five cents to close at 14.25 pesos today, following the 15-cent jump registered yesterday.

After the «blue» dollar’s rising path of the past weeks, it seems a new benchmark has been set at around 14 pesos, analysts say.

The stock exchange rate, which pushed the informal rate’s climbs last week, jumped 18 cents today to 13.06 pesos, and the blue-chip swap rate was also up by six cents to close at 12.90 pesos.

Meanwhile, the official dollar rate closed unchanged at 8.42 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices, after a day of low market activity due to the US Labour Day holiday on Monday.

Grain exporters sold off u$s 348.4 millions last week, totalling 17,619,645 this year, while the Central Bank ended today’s working day selling US$40 million.
