The anti-government splinters of CGT and CTA trade unions described the strike as “a success.” In sharp contrast with government numbers, Dissident CGT head Hugo Moyano said that over 80% of workers joined the walkout today.
In a press conference called to asses the impact of the walkout, Moyano said that there was “a very high level of adherence to the strike” and promised a more detailed analysis later today.
The union leader rejected cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich’s earlier remarks saying that 75% of workers decided not to join the strike. “The number the government has given has nothing to do with reality,” he said. “There has been a high level of adherence (to the walkout).”
“There has been empty buses running across Buenos Aires City,” Moyano said as an example of the strike’s “success”.
