Vidal agrees with workers’ demands, condemns pickets

Buenos Aires City deputy mayor María Eugenia Vidal said demands by striking workers were “fair” but questioned pickets that were halting traffic not only in the City of Buenos Aires but in several areas across the country.

“Although demands are legitimate, that person seeking to go to work should not be put to face a picket,” Vidal told reporters today.

For Mauricio Macri’s second-in-command, “inflation,” people’s “fear” to losing their jobs,” the “rise in unemployment” and income tax make workers’ situation difficult.

“These are long-standing demands and there are no answers. The strike is not an instance I agree with but the national government has not shown dialogue options in order to settle this along with unions,” Vidal said.
