Martino confirmed as new Argentina coach

Gerardo Martino has been confirmed as the new Argentine coach by Argentine FA authorities and will be presented tonight before club representatives during a meeting of AFA’s executive committee in Buenos Aires City.

Head of AFA Luis Segura will present Martino after the former Barcelona coach and AFA reached an agreement over the contract that will bind him with the Albiceleste following Alejandro Sabella’s departure.

Julio Grondona, Arsenal de Sarandí president and late AFA chief Julio’s son, said today Martino was in fact reccommended by Sabella, in order to «maintain a style of play and keep a low-key attitude.»

The new coach will be formally introduced to the press on Thursday at 1.30pm in the Ezeiza Argentine training facility, and will debut in the Albiceleste bench against Germany in September.
