Argentine basketball player Manuel Ginóbili revealed today he is suffering from a stress fracture in his right leg and might miss the 2014 basketball World Cup to be played in Spain from August 30 to September 14.
“I’m injured. My participation in the World Cup depends on how I recover in the next 20 days. I’m still optimistic,” Manu wrote in his twitter account.
Ginóbili had confirmed he would play for Argentina in the World Cup after he won his fourth NBA title with San Antonio Spurs on June 15.
This World Cup is to be the final performance of the Argentine “golden generation,” led by Ginóbili, Luis Scola, Fabricio Oberto and Andrés Nocioni, among others, which won the 2004 Olympic gold medal.
