President Cristina Fernández Kirchner announced that special aid will be extended to those affected by the floodings in the northeast of the country, in Corrientes, Misiones, Chaco and Formosa provinces.
“We would like to announce benefits for specific sectors, which will be defined by ANSES social security agency’s director this afternoon or tomorrow,” the president said.
The government will extend special welfare benefits to retirees and pensioners, and Malvinas War veterans. The Universal Child Benefit (AUH) and pregnancy benefits will be doubled for a three-month period, as well as family and unemployment allowances.
Procrear federal housing programme will also double its credit amount for three months for flood victims.
“This will reach over 14,000 beneficiaries,” the president pointed out.
The head of State began her speech at the official commemoration at the 40th anniversary of former president Juan Domingo Perón’s death this morning referring to the government’s relief efforts in flood affected areas.
