Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich warned pharmaceutical companies to keep their prices at the levels in force on May 7, as established by the Trade Secretariat in its 90/2014 resolution. “All necessary measures will be taken to guarantee the protection of medicine prices for consumers,” he said.
In his daily press briefing, the Kirchnerite official recognized the existence of price increases between 3% and 4% in the industry and explained that the 90/2014 resolution “orders to take back the sales price of all medicines to the levels in force on May 7”.
He pointed out that the legal framework of the Health Superintendence will not allow higher price increases in order to protect consumers and called on pharmaceutical chambers to guarantee supplies and inform the government about their prices.
Capitanich highlighted that the same policy applies to prepaid medicine rises.
