Opposition CGT factions headed by Hugo Moyano and Luis Barrionuevo were expected to lead a protest at the Social Security courthouse and the ANSES headquarters to demand an increase in retirement pensions as well as the collection of pensioners’ lawsuits against the government.
After gathering at noon at the Plaza Lavalle and delivering a document to the court demanding “the payment of the government’s debts with pensioners,” demonstrators will rally at the ANSES offices in Córdoba Avenue. “We demand the update of pensions to a minimum, vital and mobile salary of 3,600 pesos,” Barrionuevo said.
“This rally will be massive because it will be inspired by rage,” Moyano had warned last week, while announcing the demonstration. He urged the government to “stop playing dumb” and to answer the pensioners’ claims.
“We will go to ANSES to tell [its head Diego Bossio] to stop playing politics with pensioners’ money,” he added.
