Judge summons VP Amado Boudou for Monday

Federal Judge Ariel Lijo has finally decided to summon the vice president to appear on court on June 9. Amado Boudou had requested the magistrate to put forward the date of the hearing – which had been first scheduled for July 15 -, to next week.

On Wednesday, Boudou’s lawyers requested also the annulment of the summons saying the investigation surrounding the VP over corruption allegations in the Ciccone company purchase was based on “false affirmations, lacking legal, factual and evidential substance.”

“Considering the request made on June 3 by Amado Boudou in which he expresses his willingness to be summoned to court for questioning no longer than next week, the hearing has been set for June 9 at 11 am,” Judge Lijo says in a written statements released today.

Regarding yesterday’s presentation by Amado Boudou’s defence team, Lijo called the vice president to either “ratify or rectify” the annulment request to avoid any “contradiction” with the VP’s declared determination to show up in court.
