Federal Court second chamber ratified a previous ruling, and ordered the advance of the investigation of the agreement signed between state own oil company YPF and Chevron Corporation.
“There is a case for penal investigation, independently from its result,” the second tribunal stated, coinciding with Federal Judge María Servini de Cubría earlier decision.
New Left national lawmakers Alejandro Bodart and Enrique Viale filed an impeachment against executive decree 929/2013, signed by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, under the charges of abuse of authority, breach of public duties, and environmental damage in Vaca Muerta oil field, Neuquén province.
The lawmakers argued Chevron was benefited by the agreement, and warned about the possible environmental hazards from using the mining technique known as hydraulic fracturing.
