The heavy storms that hit Neuquén province causing subsequent floods and over 1,300 evacuations will be over by tomorrow, the National Met Service forecasted today.
The region still suffers strong winds up to 75 km/h, but weather conditions will improve over the day.
Over 1,300 people have been evacuated from Neuquén due to the floods that hit the region in the past week, nearly 900 of them from Neuquén city alone.
The province was one of the worst-affected by the storms that struck several regions of the country, including Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero and Córdoba.
Classes remained suspended today and local businesses were mostly closed, while around 435 families refused to leave their homes in spite of the floods.
Lieutenant Governor Ana Pechén announced today a credit line for those affected once they determine the amount of the economic losses.
“Obviously, there are damages in the electric infrastructure, water supply and roads. We will work hard”, Pechén said after a meeting with officials from National Security Ministry, Social Development Ministry and provincial ministers and legislators.
