Capitanich urges BA teachers to comply with judicial order, end strike

Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich holds his daily press conference at the Casa Rosada presidential palace in Buenos Aires City.
Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich has renewed his calls for dialogue to settle the teachers’ salary conflict that has left classrooms in Buenos Aires province empty for more than two weeks.
“There is a course of action based in a judicial decision that must be complied with by the parties (involved); if not, there is a contempt of court,” the head of ministers said this morning during his daily brief to the press at the government house.
Education unions have refused to abide by an injunction that orders the end of teachers’ walkout, refueling tensions with the administration of Governor Daniel Scioli.
“It is necessary to preserve the negotiating conditions and efficient dialogue among the parties, to defend public education; (that) involved the responsibility of all players to guarantee classes,” Capitanich assured.
