CFK arrives in Chile for Bachelet inauguration

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has flown to Chile in preparation for the inauguration of Chilean counterpart Michelle Bachelet, which will take place tomorrow.

The head of state will attend the ceremony alongside fellow national leaders as Bachelet is sworn into office in Valparaíso, marking her second term as president.

Greeted in Santiago by Argentine ambassador in Chile Ginés González García, the president praised regional integration, which she saw as crucial for development.

«Integration has allowed us to change the face of this part of the continent, which for decades was not such a happy place for citizens,» she remarked upon landing on Chilean soil.

Before assuming office, the Chilean president-elect will meet today with Cristina, EFE heard from government spokespersons.

It was also revealed that CFK would hold a summit with the European Commission vice-president and Industry and Business commissioner, Antonio Tajani.
