Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich holds his daily press conference at the Casa Rosada presidential palace in Buenos Aires City.
A rising in meat prices included in the government-sponsored Precios Cuidados program has not been authorized, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich said. Federal authorities will be calling for a meeting with beef brokers later today, the minister confirmed.
“The Precios Cuidados program has not authorized the increase of meat prices of those beef cuts that are included in the agreement. Yesterday, there were meetings with supermarket representatives and today we will call beef brokers to analyze the sector’s costs structure and prices evolution,” the head of ministers stated while addressing reporters at the government house this morning and denounced certain price variations the government has detected.
“We have observed some different behaviors in the quotation of meat from the market of Liniers to other regional markets,” Capitanich explained and added that “the recover of salaries and the increase of average proteins volume per inhabitant has implied a substantive increase in the demand of meat.”
