The ‘polar vortex’ that swept over the US producing the coldest temperatures in two decades started to ease up today, as the cold wave moved north towards Canada.
“There´s relief in sight as we warm to near normal and above normal to the end of the week”, the US National Weather Service said in it´s twitter account.
The record freeze left at least 21 dead and caused the cancellation of thousands of flights.
Shelters for the homeless were overflowing due to the severe cold. Road travel was paralyzed and schools and businesses closed throughout the country.
