Gov’t will allow imports to sustain new price deal

Jorge CapitanichCabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich revealed today that the Federal Government authorized the imports of products in order to sustain the new price deal and guarantee a steady provision to the public.

“President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner ordered the Minister of Economy, Axcel Kicillof to allow imports of tomatoes from Brazil, to ensure its provision to the consumers,” stated Capitanich during a press conference in the Government House.

In addition, he affirmed: “This measure will be taken with the products that might face an offer problem or affect the level of the prices.”

According to Capitanich, the goal is to guarantee that the consumer “will enjoy fair prices.”

The statement was the result of a meeting that Capitanich held yesterday with representatives of the supermarket chains and food producers.
