Massa-linked councillor accused of ‘instigating’ police protests

MASSA
Justice secretary Julián Alvarez has announced the national government would tomorrow file a criminal complaint against Lanús councillor and former deputy in command of the Buenos Aires police force, Salvador Darío Baratta, for inciting officers to go on a protest that led to a wave of looting in the province.

«He is someone who was previously removed that wants to create a trade union,» the secretary fired in today’s press conference alongside Justice and Human Rights Minister Julio Alak, referring to the councillor politically linked with Sergio Massa’s Renewal Front.

«He is promoting these events. He made them public through his declarations.»

According to Alvarez, Baratta had confessed in an interview with Radio La Red that he was leading police strikes and walkouts across the country.

«If nobody listens to what we demand, it will lead to looting,» were the ex-officer’s words, according to Alvarez.
