During a ceremony in the Government House, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner swore in two new members of her cabinet. María Cecilia Rodriguez assumes control in the Ministry of Security, while priest Juan Carlos Molina will head anti-drugs agency SEDRONAR.
Rodriguez had previously worked within the Ministry of Defence, and between 2006 and 2010 was active in the Ministry of Social Development. Molina, meanwhile, worked in Santa Cruz province, and helped lead operations for the Valdocco Foundation, which works with vulnerable youths.
“We are going to put ourselves on the ground and work in the hardest places”, Molina told members of the press. The new anti-narcotics chief affirmed that “drugs ruin our kids”.
Meanwhile, Juan José Mussi, Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development presented his resignation in order to assume his seat as a lawmaker for Buenos Aires province.
No replacement has yet been confirmed.
