Defence Minister Agustín Rossi.
After this weekend’s news confirming President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will be resuming duties as for Monday, Defence Minister Agustín Rossi rejected versions that have alleged to a possible cabinet shuffle ever since Ms. Kirchner was forced to undergo surgery only weeks ahead of the October 27 midterms that resulted in the Victory Front losing some key electoral districts. No cabinet changes loom on the Kirchnerite horizon, Rossi affirmed.
“There are no changes in view. It is media speculation. The President’s recovery has been successful and the government took care of the agenda with absolute normality”, the official said joining other Kirchnerite voices that have also ruled out the possibility of a cabinet shuffle.
Senator Aníbal Fernández was first to downplay the versions with the governor of the Chaco province –and one of the few Kirchnerites to claim a significant victory in the October’s vote- Jorge Capitanich rejecting rumors that said he would be taking a cabinet post. “The President was a very good cabinet, ministers who can carry out their duties”, Capitanich had said.
