San Juan governor José Luis Gioja is currently recovering from an operation on his abdomen after spending four hours in surgery yesterday evening, and according to latest medical reports the politician remains connected to a respirator and suffering from fever.
Subsecretary of Public Information Luis Amín released the details of today’s update from doctors around midday, following a successful intervention to treat an abdominal infection.
The report revealed that Gioja continues with «mechanical respiratory assistence, controlled ventilation functions, with adequate oxygen levels.»
«[The governor] is under sedation, in a subfeverish state (as expected in the immediate aftermath of surgery. His cardiovascular tests are stable, without medication.»
The statement concluded by stating that Gioja, who was hospitalised with multiple injuries following a helicopter crash in October, is still receiving «neuromuscular and respiratory therapy on a permanent basis,» while his prognosis remains uncertain.
