Racing end winless streak with Olimpo triumph

RacingBottom-of-the-table Racing Club finally recorded their first win of the Inicial tournament after 12 fruitless attempts, beating fellow strugglers Olimpo 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Bruno Zuculini.

The 20-year-old midfielder, a graduate of the club’s academy, turned in a close-range finish after the break to score the game’s only goal. Zuculini’s strike also ended a dark run of over 10 hours without a goal for Racing, coached by Reinaldo Merlo.

The away team could have extended their lead with further chances being squandered, but were relieved to hear the final whistle blow as their first win of the season was confirmed. Racing had not picked up three points since the final game of the previous campaign back in June, and had previously recorded just two points in a nightmare start to the Inicial.

The Academy remain bottom of the table after 13 rounds, moving within six points of Olimpo and Colón who share penultimate position with 11.
