CFK and Mujica meet over ex-Botnia dispute

CFK and MujicaPresident Cristina Fernández de Kirchner met today with Uruguayan counterpart José Mujica after the pair inaugurated a new boat belonging to ferry company Buquebús, in order to discuss matters related to the controversial paper plant formerly known as Botnia.

The heads of state left together after the event and conversed in a tent supplied by the company, which unveiled their ‘Pope Francis’ seacraft in the presence of both presidents. Mujica and Kirchner addressed a recent request by new owners of the plant, UPM, to increase production at the installation, which is opposed by the Argentine government.

Argentine Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman spoke to reporters, revealing that tomorrow «A Uruguayan delegation will travel in order to talk with the Foreign Ministry about the ex-Botnia situation.»

«There is an open dialogue,» he added.
