Carrió compares ‘abandoned’ CFK to Isabel Peron

carrioNational lawmaker Elisa Carrió has compared president Cristina Kirchner with former head of state María Estela Martínez de Perón, stating that both figures were «abandoned by the trade unions and the Justicialist Party (PJ)».

The UNEN candidate for the lower house in October’s legislative elections spoke out on Monday, when she noted the supposed similarities between Kirchner and the third wife of Juan Domingo Perón, the last president before the military dictatorship which began in 1976.

«[Cristina Kirchner] is Isabel Perón. What was Isabel Perón? She was a person abandoned by different sectors of the PJ who fought amongst themselves, a woman abandoned by the trade unions,» Carrió fired.

«There is no coup d’etat. But we will start to notify the Organisation of American States about what PJ directors are doing as well as what they are saying,» the lawmaker added, alluding to accusations from government politicans that the opposition is trying to destabilise the political process.

Carrió closed by referring to the possibility of opposing politicians gaining control of the lower house presidency, a possibility that the lawmaker stated «will be resolved when we know the composition of the new lower house.»
