Ángeles’ stepfather testifies, says Mangeri ‘gone mad

angelesStepfather of Ángeles Rawson Sergio Opatowski showed up in court today to testify before judge Javier Ríos and said suspect Jorge Mangeri “has gone mad.”

“I think Mageri has gone crazy. I have no doubt at all that he tried to abuse Ángeles; he could not, the situation went too far and he end up killing her,” Opatowski told a bunch of reporters covering his arrival at the tribunal.

“Only now I have become a little angry at Mangeri and at what he did,” the stepfather of the 16-year old whose body was found in a CEAMSE santiray landfill more than two months ago stated and added that Ángeles was “very shy.” “She said hello to him but there was neither communication nor dialogue (between them),” he explained.

The decision to call Opatowski to testify was made by judge Ríos on Friday after the a report showed that the blood found in his car did not belong to the victim but to a relative of her.

Ángeles’ body was exhumed yesterday following doubts about how she died. Around 9 pm on Monday, her remains were transferred from the Jardín de Paz private cemetery located in Buenos Aires Province to the judicial morgue in Buenos Aires city where new exams will be run by a medical committee.
