The Argentine Pope has sent his solidarity to the families of the Rosario tragedy victims expressing his “paternal pray and closeness” towards the injured and those affected by the building collapse that has claimed the lives so far of 10 people.
“I have just received a very emotional message from Pope Francis showing his closeness” towards Argentineans, Rosario city archbishop José Luis Mollaghan told reporters.
“Saint Father Francis, acutely saddened by the grievous news about the violent explosion in the city of Rosario, wants to offer his votes for the eternal rest of the dead,” the Vatican State Secretary informed and added the ex Argentine cardinal wishes to “raise fervent prayers to the Lord so that he concedes his consolation to the affected by this tragedy, inspiring in everybody sentiments of Christian hope and fraternal solidarity.”
Archbishop Mollaghan joined Rosario Mayor Mónica Fein and Santa Fe province governor Antonio Bonfattii during the walks around the accident spot and compared Tuesday’s collapse with the explosion at the Israel embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992 when he was a parish priest of the Mater Admirabilis church, located right in front the diplomatic office.
“It was almost the same in magnitude (terms). I was there (at the Israeli embassy) by that time and this is very similar. It has shocked us all,” Mollaghan considered.
