Lawmaker and senatorial pre-candidate for the PRO party Gabriela Michetti said she was “optimistic” after hearing the latest poll results. “I’m very excited about them. The campaign is the most intense moment for those of us in politics.”
She added that “she is very happy to know that she has the trust, love and support of the people” and suggested that “in the future she’d love the possibility to be mayor.”
Regarding the National Government’s position towards the Pope and the International Youth Day celebrated in Brazil, Michetti said she thought using his name in the campaign is a “selfish” act.
“It’s the opposite of what Bergoglio preaches,” she said.
Regarding the pontiff’s past as a clergyman in the City, she said that he was her “political and philosophical guide in her values.”
