Buenos Aires province unionized teachers discussed the new salary offer made by the Daniel Scioli administration earlier this week. After a 12-day strike conflict, the Education Workers Union (SUTEBA) headed by Roberto Baradel has already accepted the proposal.
Although the rest of education unions –Sadop, FEB, UDA and AMET-, have yet to confirm their decision, they are likely to go the same way SUTEBA did.
The government of Buenos Aires province came up on Tuesday with a 24.5 percent hike increasing seniority bonus. SUTEBA’s Baradel considered the offer an “improvement in terms of deadlines and percentages,” leading to a new stance in negotiations after a salary dispute that affected almost 5 million students over the past months.
