Silvia Merega accredited as ambassador to Ireland

Silvia Merega has been officially accredited as Argentina’s ambassador to Ireland. Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman appointed Merega to head Argentina’s Foreign Service office (ISEN) in August 2012.
Among the top duties of her professional record, Merega presided over the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands Office belonging to the Foreign Ministry between 1996 and 2000, with Malvinas sovereignty controversy with the UK becoming one of the mainstays of the Kirchnerite government over the past years.
She served as well at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Argentina to the Organization of American States (OAS) from 2001 to 2007 and at the Argentine Embassy to the European Union between 1993 and 1996.
Silvia Merega graduated in law from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA in Spanish) and got a master degree in International Relations at The American University in Washington DC.
The newly ambassador to Ireland, graduated from the ISEN in 1981 where she was awarded with a gold medal on the basis of a high academic standing.
