It was Civic Coalition MP Elisa Carrió who triggered the war of words inside the opposition spectrum, saying lawmakers Ricardo Gil Lavedra and Alfonso Prat Gay had been “politically assaulted” as they witnessed in Congress the approval of the government’s capital markets regulation bill last year. Gil Lavedra fired back and said “Carrió has been assaulted asleep.”
The head of the Radical Party caucus at the Lower House and ex political ally of Carrió, Gil Lavedra questioned Carrió’s corruption allegations against certain anti-kirchnerite leaders. “Best way not to combat corruption is saying that everyone is corrupt,” he said.
“If we were raped by the government, she has been raped asleep because she was home and not at the session that day,” the deputy continued blasting also Carrió’s absence at parliamentary debates and considering her position ends up “serving” the ruling Victory Front party.
“(Carrió) is a serious obstacle for the unity of the opposition”, Gil Lavedra finally pointed out ahead of the press conference opposition blocs will be holding this afternoon agaisnt the government’s whitewashing bill.
