Iranian Ayatollah Ali Jamenei affirmed that “the enemies” of his country have failed in their attempt to hurt Iran’s economy through sanctions imposed by the West over Tehran’s alleged non-peaceful nuclear ambitions.
In that sense, the top authority and supreme leader of the Islamic Republic questioned the moves that the European Union, the US and the UN have driven against Iran’s since 2006.
“They have not made it, we succeeded in different areas,” the Ayatollah said in a speech broadcasted by the Iranian television marking the Norouz Persian New Year.
Although the Islamic leader recognized that the Iranian people suffered “certain pressure,” he also said the domestic economy was rather halted by “internal factors.”
“Trends show positive results,” Jamenei pointed out and ratified Tehran’s peaceful nuclear plans through uranium enrichment for electricity production purposes. “Enemies seek to isolate the Iranian people but quite the contrary happened,” he warned and stressed that the recent Non-aligned Movement Summit in Tehran showed that “the Islamic Republic is not isolated.»
