Head of SUTEBA Rodolfo Baradel ratified teachers’ action plan against BA province government and questioned Daniel Scioli’s decision to “unilaterally” close out salary negotiations.
In a press conference, the Secretary General of the Buenos Aires Education Workers Union (SUTEBA in Spanish) warned collective bargaining talks end only when parties reach an agreement as laid down by the provincial legislation. Baradel inisited that the conflict “will not end” till Scioli’s administration meets teachers’ demans “reasonably.»
The provincial government has decreed a 22.6 per cent increase staggered in a three-time payment plan. But Baradel thinks the law is “clear” enough about salary negotiations. “The collective bargaining is not closed because the law does not allow it to be closed by decree,» he told reporters as the education conflict in the province of Buenos Aires deepens.
