‘Cóndor Plan’ Trial begins

The historic trial that will shed light on the “Cóndor Plan” –a joint, repressive strategy by South American dictatorships to suppress opposition in the 70s and 80s – has begun at the Federal Court building of Comodoro Py, after being delayed for almost three hours.

The process involves former Argentine dictators Jorge Rafael Videla and Reynaldo Bignone as well as the ex head of the third Corps of the Army Luciano Benjamín Menéndez.

The three of them have already been sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity.
