Teacher unions to strike on Monday

Teacher unions will strike Monday to protest against a “poor wage offer” and the Government’s unilateral decision of closing collective bargaining.
The secretary generals of the four national teacher unions announced the measure in a press conference excepting CTERA, which will speak out on the issue on Saturday.
Classes are scheduled to begin nationally on Monday.
“The strike is called for due to the poor wage offer and the National Government’s unilateral decision of closing wage talks,” they explained.
“We want to show that we are not happy and had there been a reasonable proposal, we would have reached a deal. We have will, but the Government is inflexible and we do not want to tolerate that.
“The Education Ministry is responsible for this strike, not the unions organising it. Wage talks should be reopened so we can continue negotiating,” they concluded.
