City Mayor Mauricio Macri rejected President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s latest criticism towards him over the hike in the subway tariffs scheduled to be applied in March and asked her to “let him work in peace.”
“Only 15 days after taking control of the subway system in the city, they already criticize everything,” he said, as he asked the administration to “stop the bickering and confrontation.”
Macri insisted that the National Government “decided to hand them over the management of the subway system all of a sudden” without following the constitution, a move that according to him forces him to apply a hike in the subway fare, which will jump from $2.50 to $3.50 pesos after March.
“We don’t have the advantages of the Central Bank. The President should let us work in peace, we have a great team working on this. Only fifteen days after taking over this they are already criticizing everything. It’s impossible to understand,” he added.
The PRO leader referred to the statements made by President Fernández on Monday, when she ironically said that under the new income tax floor, a worker would only be paying three pesos in taxes, a sum that “wouldn’t be enough to pay the subway fare.”
